carved, pressed

My visual arts practice is rooted in an exploration of the mythologies that piece together my experience of the natural world. Wilderness contains a subconscious library of personal symbols that I engage with to make sense of the world around me as well as my own emotional landscape. Often, my work addresses themes of transformation, duality, and reaction. My primary medium of linoleum block printing allows for mark making to become a meeting ground for drawing and sculptural sensibilities. The process of carving the block gives an inherently primal energy to the work’s creation, while printing produces a fossil of the original object.
